VPN Network:

A virtual private network (VPN) is a network that uses a public telecommunication infrastructure, such as the Internet, to provide remote offices or individual users with secure access to their organization's network. A virtual private network can be contrasted with an expensive system of owned or leased lines that can only be used by one organization. The goal of a VPN is to provide the organization with the same capabilities, but at a much lower cost.

Virtual private network (VPN):

A virtual private network carries private traffic over the public internet:

  • A secure communications “ tunnel “.
  • Connects the corporate office securely to remote/home users or branch offices.
  • Created over a broadband internet connection (ADSL).

Tunnel: a secure channel for the transmission of the data between the local and the remote user.

Business Solutions: Secure Remote Access to The Managed LAN:

Solution highlights:

  • Router w/VPN, SPI firewall and IPS; Internet security systems.
  • VPN: allows you to access the company from a remote location.

Managed LAN; any remote PC connected with the VPN network.

Remote access VPN using IP Sec. requires client software on the PC:

  • Remote access VPN connect mobile users to the corporate office.
  • The secure tunnel connection is established as needed.

SSL (Secure Socket Layer): a security system as data is sent with a certain code by the mobile users through the web browser.

Encryption Fundamentals:

What is encryption?

  • a method of protecting the confidentiality of data.
  • uses keys to encrypt and decrypt the data.

Business Benefits of VPN:

Single connection provides access to the internet and your corporate office

  • Remote workers gain secure access to corporate resources
  • Increase workforce productivity
  • Scalable to support up to 50 remote connections
  • Easily support mobile workers

Some Questions to Ask Your Customers:

  1. Do you have people working from remote locations?
  2. Would you like to separate data from other departments in your company?
  3. Would you like to have seamless wireless access?
  4. Are you using video, voice, and other applications on the network?
  5. Do you have multiple buildings you would like to connect?

B- IP VPN Network:

Business critical applications need a national network infrastructure that's adaptable and secure. Using just one connection, Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) VPN solution allows your organization to access intranet, extranet and internet applications seamlessly. Using the IP VPN Network gives you the protection of a private network and the resourcefulness of IP at the same time.
Staying in constant contact with every one you work with is essential to the success of your business so you are in need of an end-to-end solution that can be customized for employees, customers, partners and suppliers alike. With the IP VPN Network, you can choose speeds up to 155 Mbps for the performance level you require. With IP VPN Network, you can guarantee a better-quality performance, data reliability and security all the time.
As a network, based on Cisco's MPLS technology, IP VPN is widely regarded as the most advanced technology used today. among the features of MPLS: automatic any-to-any connectivity; all your offices and sites are connected all the time, versatility of voice, prioritized data and video use over a single infrastructure.
IP VPN Network is the 1st IP and ATM core based network running state-of-the-art MPLS network technology. IP VPN services are based on the highest professional standards in the world thus guaranteeing your business the versatility, reliability and security it needs.

The following are short definitions for the terms:

1- MPLS:
Computer networking and telecommunications, Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a data-carrying mechanism that belongs to the family of packet-switched networks. It was designed to provide a unified data-carrying service for both circuit-based clients and packet-switching clients which provide a datagram service model. It can be used to carry many different kinds of traffic, including IP packets, as well as native ATM and Ethernet frames
2- ATM:
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM)
is a cell relay, packet switching network and data link layer protocol which encodes data traffic into small (53 bytes; 48 bytes of data and 5 bytes of header information) fixed-sized cells. ATM provides data link layer services that run over Layer 1 links. This differs from other technologies based on packet-switched networks (such as the Internet Protocol or Ethernet), in which variable sized packets (known as frames when referencing Layer 2) are used. ATM is a connection-oriented technology, in which a logical connection is established between the two endpoints before the actual data exchange begins.
3- Frame relay:
In the context of computer networking, frame relay consists of an efficient data transmission technique used to send digital information quickly and cheaply in a relay of frames to one or many destinations from one or many end-points. Network providers commonly implement frame relay for voice and data as an encapsulation technique, used between local area networks (LANs) over a wide area network (WAN). Each end-user gets a private line (or leased line) to a frame-relay node. The frame-relay network handles the transmission over a frequently-changing path transparent to all end-users.

The features of IP VPN Network:

  • Easy to administer, manage and change.
  • Automatic any-to-any connectivity.
  • Various access methods, G.SHDSL (frame relay or ATM) and Dial access (VPDN).
  • superior video and voice over IP capabilities.
  • supporting multi-participant video conferencing.
  • private IP addressing.
